Measurement of detrusor contractility in the reflex micturition of the decerebrate dog.

چکیده
Detrusor contractility was measured in the reflex micturition of the decerebrate dog, using a computer directly connected to a urodynamic setup. Detrusor contractility parameters seem to be useful for evaluation of bladder function.

New therapeutic directions to treat underactive bladder
Underactive bladder (UAB) is a term used to describe a constellation of symptoms that is perceived by patients suggesting bladder hypocontractility. Urodynamic measurement that suggest decreased contractility of the bladder is termed detrusor underactivity (DUA). Regulatory approved specific management options with clinically proven ability to increase bladder contractility do not currently exi...
متن کاملFunctional roles of TRPV1 and TRPV4 in control of lower urinary tract activity: dual analysis of behavior and reflex during the micturition cycle.
The present study used a dual analysis of voiding behavior and reflex micturition to examine lower urinary tract function in transient receptor potential vanilloid (TRPV)1 knockout (KO) mice and TRPV4 KO mice. In metabolic cage experiments conducted under conscious conditions (i.e., voluntary voiding behavior), TRPV4 KO mice showed a markedly higher voiding frequency (VF; 19.3 ± 1.2 times/day) ...
متن کاملUrodynamic effects of the bladder C-fiber afferent activity modulation in chronic model of overactive bladder in rats.
Previous studies have suggested that, different types of unmyelinated bladder afferent C-fibres, such as capsaicin-sensitive and capsaicin-resistant mediate the voiding reflex in overactive bladder (OAB). Considering its polymodal features, we explored the urodynamic effect of primary afferent neurons modulation on detrusor activity in normal and OAB rats. Experiments were performed on 48 femal...
متن کاملUrinary bladder function and its control in healthy females.
Recordings in eight healthy female volunteers of bladder (detrusor) pressure and flow rate, obtained during bladder filling and during voiding, both through the urethra and through a catheter, demonstrate that a model of bladder function in which the detrusor muscle is considered as completely passive during filling and fully activated during voiding is inadequate. Assessment of the detrusor co...
متن کاملActivation and inhibition of the micturition reflex by penile afferents in the cat.
Coordination of the urinary bladder and the external urethral sphincter is controlled by descending projections from the pons and is also subject to modulation by segmental afferents. We quantified the effects on the micturition reflex of sensory inputs from genital afferents traveling in the penile component of the somatic pudendal nerve by electrical stimulation of the dorsal nerve of the pen...
